Annual Jazz Festival
The 5th Annual Fil-Am Jazzfest, December 4-5, will be a two-day celebration of extraordinary music and cross-cultural fellowship. In addition to fan favorites such as Mon David, Abe Lagrimas, and Tateng Katindig, JazzPhil-USA is delighted to introduce patrons to several amazing artists making their Fil-Am JazzFest debut, including guitarist Angelo Pizzaro (from Seattle), vocalist Charito (from Tokyo) and the soon-to-be-announced 2009 JazzPhil-USA talent search winner. Manila's finest will be well-represented, too. The Queen of Filipina jazz vocalists, Sandra Viray, returns to Hollywood, and JazzPhil-USA's 2009 Lifetime Achievement Award winner, the legendary Eddie Katindig, will be on hand for two historic performances. Charito

Charmaine Clamor

Mon David
A major jazz singer from the Philippines who can sing any type of music with credibility, creativity, heartfelt emotions and wit, Mon David has during the past two years been living and creating waves in the U.S. “It is a major move, starting all over again in the United States , but it was important to do,” says Mon. “America is a wider and bigger playground, one I wanted to explore and learn from.”
Mon David has always been eager to learn as much about music as possible. He grew up listening to Filipino folk songs, the Beatles, pop music of the era and Motown. It was obvious from an early age that he had a strong and appealing voice, and he often sang in school programs.. Read more.
Tateng Katindig
Eduardo Katindig Jr. known to his family, friends and the music circle as "Tateng" is making waves as a Jazz pianist in the Los Angeles area. He was born in the Philippines and did his schooling at the University of the Philippines majoring in composition and keyboard concentration. Music is the core foundation of this family. Tateng is the son of Eddie K who is one of the Philippines record holder in the instrumental category (saxophone). In short music runs in his blood. Read more.
Abe Lagrimas, Jr.
Abe Lagrimas, Jr. is a versatile multi-instrumentalist who begun his musical journey starting at such an early point in his life. Abe started playing drums at the age of four, but gained an interest in learning other instruments as his music career progressed. Predominantly known as a drummer, Abe is equally proficient on the vibraphone and the `ukulele. Today, he currently performs and tours throughout the world on the drums, vibraphone, or `ukulele. Angelo Pizarro
Angelo, a guitar virtuoso and composer – writes and performs brilliant, improvisational acoustic and electric guitar music, mixing the traditional sounds of his Filipino heritage with the electrified funk and rock of his youth. In the past several years he has focused on the acoustic sound of the Spanish guitar, blending it into the mix and creating a beautiful eclectic style. Read more.
Sandra Viray
Manila's jazz diva... Sandra is a singer of Ella-like pathos and range. She was the president of the Philippine Jazz Society for two consecutive years, and is currently President and Chairman of the Philippine International Jazz and Arts Festival. Sandra is well-renowned for her impeccable voice and style of jazz singing. Sandra is the premier jazz singer in the Philippines today. Her mastery of scat singing, soulful interpretation of every song, perfect rhythmic ideas, a vast repertoire of Broadway classics, spiritual, Latin, funk, blues and swing and lifting stage presence are just some of the star qualities that endears her to numerous followers.
